Ojas Kerala Ayurveda

One of the oldest holistic therapeutic practices in the world, Ayurveda originated in ancient India and dates back more than 5,000 years. With its roots in Vedic culture, it developed into a profound science of life that seeks to balance the body, mind, and spirit. Ayurveda, which means "knowledge of life" in Sanskrit, is based on a preventative philosophy that acknowledges the close relationship between human health and the natural environment. Based on the idea that health depends on maintaining a delicate balance between one's bodily, emotional, and spiritual well-being, Ayurveda has been embraced globally today due to its proven benefits.

Origins

The principles of Ayurveda were first recorded in ancient texts called the Vedas, specifically in the Atharva Veda, where healing practices, herbal remedies, and meditative techniques were documented by sages. These texts were passed down through generations, later refined and expanded into two key texts: the *Charaka Samhita* and *Sushruta Samhita*. These foundational works detail Ayurveda's core concepts of diagnosis, treatment, surgical practices, and preventive care. Ayurveda’s framework is centered around the three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha— which represent the elemental forces that govern physiological functions. According to Ayurveda, each individual has a unique balance of these doshas, which guides their physical and mental constitution, as well as their susceptibility to certain health conditions. The goal of Ayurvedic practice is to balance these doshas, thereby promoting overall well-being and preventing disease.
